Birchleggings Club Financial Grants

 

As part of our mission to support the American Birkebeiner and encourage healthy lifestyles, the Birchleggings Club has provided monetary grants to several organizations. Here are some recent recipients:

  

 

 

 

This April 2026, nine grant applications were vetted and eight were awarded as follows:

  • $2500 to the American Birkebeiner Ski Foundation towards purchase of hole baskets for the new disc-golf course at Telemark Village.


  • $3000 to the ABSF towards long-range program development.


  • $3000 to the Blackhawk Ski Club of Middleton, WI towards the construction of a warming/storage building.


  • $1500 to the Ironwood (MI) Area Schools XC Ski Program for program support and transportation of their students to the 2027 Barnebirkie.


  • $500 to the Namekagon Community Foundation for a 2026 sponsorship of their annual run/walk event.


  • $1000 to the Rochester (MN) Youth Ski League for purchase of warming tents for their meetings and events.


  • $1000 to the Seeley Hills Club for new trail signs for the Seeley Hills Trails.


  • $1500 to Team Birkie for athlete food expense at the upcoming 2026 Central Regional Elite Training Camp. 

    

In October 2025 ten grant applications were vetted and nine were awarded as follows: 

 

$1500 to the Iola, WI Winter Sports Club to support their youth ski program.

 

$2000 to Team Birkie to help offset costs incurred for travel at the 2026 Nationals competition.

 

$1620 to the ABSF for one-year lease of a porta-potty near the Birchleggings Club Hut at the Mosquito Brook trailhead.

 

$1000 to the Cable  Community Farm to improve raptor habitat for the birds that help provide pest control on the farm.

 

$1000 to Protect Our Winters to support their operations that work towards climate change mitigation and a sustainable winter climate.

 

$1500 to Central Cross Country Skiing’s Nordic Rocks program that provides youth cross country ski equipment to school and community programs.

 

$1200 to the ABSF for the Birchleggings Club to sponsor the trail marker at kilometer 52 on the Birkie classic trail for three years.

 

$1000 to Wisconsin Nordic Network to provide entry-fee scholarships for first-time Korte youth skiers.

 

$3000 to the ABSF towards long-range program development.

 

None of this is made possible without the contributions and involvement of Birchleggings Club members, Birkie skiers, and participants at our fundraising events. On behalf of the BLC and all these organizations we extend a large Thank You!
