A Birkebeiner Morning Information
Leonard first convinced me to ski the Birkebeiner with him in 1976. I
didn’t know that he was going to ski over me that day. We completed
that race and so many more after that – most of them side by side.
We
started bringing others to the Birkebeiner – my brother Jeff , our
friend Don, …. In all, some 25 skiers and some 300 total Birkebeiner
races can be traced back to our first race.
This song about our first Birkie originated many years ago. It is sung ritually for the ski crew every year after the race. Len has left us. Now we ski for him as well.
